CHARCOAL

Compressed or natural charcoal: natural charcoal is the result of carbonizing

of willow twigs in airtight conditions. The diameter of the charcoal sticks

therefore depends on the diameter of the twigs. Compressed charcoal

consists of clay and particles of charcoal; this mixture is pressed into models

and burned. Compressed charcoal has a homogenous stroke when working

with it; whereas natural charcoal produces lighter, irregular lines and

therefore often is preferred as quick sketching material.

Charcoal is a popular material from students to artists – from sketching to

completion of a drawing or painting. They can also be combined with

colored pastels. There are no limits to your imagination! Fantastic effects

can be achieved by blurring strokes or by dissolving charcoal particles in

water – just give it a try!

Skizzierkohle Whether sketching, outlining or combining with

pastels, there are no limits when using

Sketching Charcoal. Achieve special effects

by smudging the strokes or dissolve charcoal

shavings in water.

Nero Stick produces a very shiny, smudge

proof black stroke. Due to its oily components

it is water resistant. Its shape lends itself to

large-scale drawing.

Compressed Charcoal produces an even,

smooth and dark black stroke. It is made by

mixing charcoal and clay, putting it into a

mould and then it is burnt. Available in three

hardnesses.

Natural Charcoal is made by burning willow

wood in airtight containers. It creates a soft,

less dense, varied stroke. Ideal for preliminary

sketching. Available in different packaging

units and a diameter of 4mm, 6mm, 8,5mm

and 12 mm in a transparent tube.

Chunky Charcoal is an extra large, round

compressed charcoal, which produces a

smooth deep black of exceptional depth and

tonality. Its unique size and shape fits

comfortable into the artist's hand. Especially

suitable for large-scale drawings. Application

of a fixative is recommended.

The pure Charcoal Powder is especially

suitable for large surface drawings, three-

dimensional working and working out of light

and shadows. Can also be mixed with water

and binding agent.
