Sanguine – Hematite – Red Ochre
Hematite is a ferrous oxide mineral (Fe2O3) and has been used as a
raw
material by human beings for ages. Archaeology calls hematite minerals
usually sanguine or red ochre. Sanguine derives from Greek and means
“yellow as a mountain”. In the Middle Ages it came over
the Latin “ochra” to
other languages. Ochre are shades of yellow from light to gold until
orange,
from light brown to red brown. And red ochre usually is called sanguine.

Charcoal produces an even,
smooth, blendable
deep black stroke.
The Pencil is available in three hardnesses. |

Black Pastel is especially
suitable for sketching
and drawing. Use alone or mix with water and
combine with Sanguine, Sepia and other
products.
The Pencil is available in medium hardness. |

White Pastel is excellent
to combine with

lighten medium to dark tones.
